Japan-Philippines: Priestly and Diaconal Ordinations

Ordination of the two Fathers and two Deacons and we ask the Lord to continue bless us...

It was February 2, 2008.We were supposed to have the Priestly Ordination in Cebu City, but since the mother of Rev. Dennis Descallar was in hospital with cancer, the ceremony was moved to Davao City, where his mother was lying in bed in hospital. We were hoping for her health and we prayed to the Blessed Casani. But he did not work the miracle. The very day before the Ordination, the mother was buried. Nevertheless, accepting the Will of God, we continued with the Ordination of Rev. Dennis Descallar and Marlon Nacua to the Priesthood and Brs. Jesus Barrion and Arnel Bajo, to Diaconate. The Archbishop of Davao City, the Most Reverend Fernando R. Capalla conferred the Orders. It was Saturday and the church was full. Everything was prepared very well by the faithful and by their zealous Parish Priest Fr. Henri Campion. He was really a champion in everything. He himself directed the choir and the whole ceremony was a great success. Thanks, Fr. Henri. For the song after the first reading at Mass, a member of our work at the Calasanz Center in Cebu City flew to Davao. She plays the organ for the children during Mass at our Center on Sundays.

On entering the ceremony, we could see the sister of Fr. Dennis carrying the chasuble in her hands, and Fr. Marlon's mother. There was also the mother of Rev. Arnel and the sister of Rev. Jesus. They were very proud! And the grandmother of Fr. Dennis was also at the church, in his wheel chair. In spite of her daughter having passed away. She was happy on this occasion. Praised be the Lord!

After the Mass came the long kissing of hands of the two Priests and so many pictures were taken. Concelebrating with the Archbishop were 5 Piarist Fathers, two Parish priests and one Cavannis Father from a formation house near Davao City in Tagum. He came to the ceremony with two professed Brothers. It is always nice to feel fraternity.

The following day, Fr. Dennis had his Thanksgiving Mass at the same church. It was Sunday and the faithful enjoy the first Priest of their new Church that is in the process of being built.

In the afternoon and accompanied by his Brothers, Fr. Marlon had his Thanksgiving Mass at his Parish, St.Paul Church, in Davao City, and since the Mass was for children. Fr. Marlon was surrounded by many children, as was his mentor. Fr. Pedro Diez from Zaragoza, where Fr.Marlon spent time learning his method of teaching little children.

It was a day of joy for the Ordination of the two Fathers and two Deacons and we ask the Lord to continue bless us with plenty of vocations so that we may fulfill the spirit of Calasanz in this land of the Philippines.
